Royal Oak Michigan is a beautiful metropolitan city located north of the city of Detroit. The city has rich heritage, taking it’s name from the Royal Oak tree that King Charles the second used to escape persecution in the battle of Worcester. The city was a start for such well known entertainers as Meg White of The White Stripes, and Tim Allen, who’s flagship program “Home Improvement” which was syndicated from 1991 to 1999 was set in Royal Oak. The city has one high school, which is the aptly named Royal Oak High School. The city once had two, George A. Dondero High School and Clarence M. Kimball High School, but in 2006 the city’s lower enrollment rates forced a merger between the two schools. The same process went for the city’s middle schools, which is now Royal Oak Middle School. The city currently has six elementary schools. There is also a division of Oakland County Community College.
